Hanofuda Cards

Hanofuda cards are special tools used by new age onmyoji to capture and control yokai. They are made with a condensed Ofuda and placed into a hanafuda card which is where it gets its namesake Hanofuda cards (get it?) Nobody really knows how the card gains an eye and mouth in this process but it is theorized by many an onmyoji that all the spirit energy released when condensing an ofuda makes the hanafuda card it is contained in turn into a sort of pseudo tsukumogami. They activate when a yokai's soul has been revealed by destroying it's physical body once activated one may throw the hanofuda near the soul so that it may devour it and capture it. It is said that an onmyojis first capture is more terrifying than any yokai they may face in their entire lives. Made 3/24/2021
